Discussion: Science & Theology
PLEASE NOTE: This discussion group is *not* currently meeting. We are gathering names of interested persons – when we reach the magic number of five person, we’ll begin. Please read the description below. If you’re interested, sign up at the bottom of this page and we’ll let you know when the discussion will start up. Once scheduled, you will be able to find the group on our calendar. The event will be titled: “Science & Theology” The calendar event will include the location.
The Science and Theology Discussion group is dedicated to a deep and rich discussion of the great ideas of our time — done so in a way that probes matters of science and religion in a thoughtful way.
This discussion group is open to all students, faculty, and staff who are interested in participating in a cross-discipline conversation that includes a theological dimension to the conversation.
Each meeting begins promptly and will last exactly an hour. Of course, once the group has adjourned – people are welcome to stay and talk as long as they like. We respect peoples commitments by formally sticking to an hour-long commitment.
The entire internet is our playground for discussion topics. Experience has shown, however, that Ted Talks (Check out www.ted.com – or click the video below for a sample) provide a steady supply of great discussion material. Participants may feel free, however, to suggest other topics/resources to throw into the mix.
OUR FIRST DISCUSSION TOPIC:
“John Bohannon: Dance vs. powerpoint, a modest proposal”
