Phi Beta Chi
What is Phi Beta Chi?
Phi Beta Chi is a Lutheran Social Sorority founded at the University Of Illinois in 1987. The Purdue chapter was founded in 1980.We have 18 active members and we participate in informal recruitment and continuous open bidding on Purdue’s campus. We do not have a house and there are no housing requirements.
What’s the purpose of Phi Beta Chi nationally?
The purpose of Phi Beta Chi is to uphold the integrity of our Creed:
We, the sisters of Phi Beta Chi, shall strive to be faithful and energetic Christian leaders and shall celebrate the Lutheran heritage. We stand for good scholarship, for the guarding of good health, for the maintenance of fine standards, for service to Church and Humanity and for the attainment of excellence in all of our endeavors. In all of our activities, we shall strive to be living symbols of the Rose of Sharon and shall use Love through Life in Christ as the ideal which shall guide our lives. For I am the Rose of Sharon, the Lily of the Field.
What are the requirements to join Phi Beta Chi?
Potential new members must be full-time students enrolled at Purdue University. There is a grade point average requirement to join Phi Beta Chi. We typically consider Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors for membership.
What are the costs involved in joining?
Joining a sorority is first and foremost a time committment. Other than that, the monetary cost is $425 for your first semester and $200 for each semester that you are active after that.
What are the benefits derived from joining?
